My Story

I was born in East Point, Georgia. When I was two years old, we moved to Orlando, Florida where I grew up. I enjoyed Disney World, Sea World and going to the beach with my family. During my childhood, my father was an alcoholic and my best friend was killed in a shooting accident. When I graduated from High School, I had a lot of good things going on. I was working full-time, going to college, had a great car and a beautiful girlfriend. Even with all the good things in my life, I was missing something. I knew there had to be more to life than working 40 hours a week and hanging out with friends on the weekend. I started searching for the missing piece.

One of the places I searched was First Baptist Church, Orlando. I had attended this church on holidays and special occasions. I remember sitting up in the top of the balcony intently listening to the Pastor talk about how a person can have a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. He said that everyone has a problem and that problem is sin. I found out that Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and died on the cross for my sins and then rose from the dead. During this time, I was reading my Bible and going to  church regularly. Over the course of three weeks, I struggled with starting the relationship with God through Jesus. The big moment for me was when I realized that I did not have to do a lot of things or be someone that I wasn’t. I could trust Jesus and what He did for me on the cross. When I was 20 years old, that is what I did. I was in my room with my Bible and asked Jesus to come into my life to forgive me for my sins. I stopped trying to be someone I couldn’t, and I started trusting Christ.

Since trusting Christ, I now have purpose for my life. I found the missing piece. Over the years there have been good times and hard times. God has blessed me with a beautiful, Godly wife and five amazing children. When my oldest daughter was very young, she was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. The doctors could not figure out what was wrong. The antibiotics began to work and she recovered quickly. Then last year, I lost my father to cancer.  Jesus does not take away to hard times. He gives us strength to go through the hard times. Jesus has been faithful to me through it all, and I am confident that He will remain faithful to me through whatever comes my way. I am grateful to God to have a relationship with Jesus. Over the years I have had the opportunity to lead many people to faith in Jesus Christ. Would you like to place you faith in Jesus and have assurance that you are a child of God?
